Character Name: Justice “JJ” James
Archetype: Home for the Holidays
Age: 21
Birthday: November 03
Family: Jameson James (father), Samantha James (mother)
Useful skills: Plays softball and runs track so she has a pretty good swing with a bat and has excellent stamina on long runs. JJ is also going to school for the Culinary Arts so she is a pretty damn good cook.
History: The James name is known for prestige, culture, and being filthy rich. It didn’t though give you an ounce of decency though. Jameson James was the only son of his generation and all the spoils were his to have and to hold. The one thing that money couldn’t buy though was the attention of one of the town’s most renowned beauties Samantha Evens. Samantha was a model, a simple girl of a middle class background and a media darling that turned every man’s head and she was something Jameson wasn’t supposed to have. Whether it was his charm or his money Jameson got the girl in the end even though his parents threw quite the fit in private about his choice of a girl below his station.

Life for the town’s most influential couple was interesting. Life wasn’t perfect and Samantha was far from a faithful wife. Her eyes wandered and she realized fairly early in the marriage that Jameson just wasn’t doing it for her any longer. It was only one act of infidelity but it was one that would give the James family a lasting reminder when Samantha became pregnant with the other man’s child. Jameson would never learn of it though. Samantha couldn’t look her beautiful baby girl in the face though and not know she wasn’t Jameson’s. Thankfully Jameson was too stupid to figure it out.

So it was that Justice Janelle Natalie James started her life of being ignored. Jameson would never be an attentive father. Samantha couldn’t bare to look at the girl. JJ was never even touched by her mother as a child and was solely raised by nannies. It was hard to hide the disinterest of Justice’s parents from her but the house staff surely tried. Samantha and Jameson just had higher priorities having dinner parties and getting Botox.

Justice grew into an intelligent and pretty young woman that spent more time in the kitchens of her home than with the family that was never at home. It instilled a love of baking and cooking with Justice that stuck with her for the long haul. The house staff after all was more her family than her own flesh and blood were. Her family was practically strangers and JJ came to that conclusion the day she turned twelve that none of them truly cared for her. They cared more about their public image and stock portfolio than they ever would about her.

JJ despite all that was in the way flourished and received numerous scholarships and the like to an out of state university. She jumped at the chance to get the hell out of Safe Haven. Justice has managed to not go home for any holidays or anything since she left but a phone call about some big thing over the winter holidays had her packing her things and heading home. She didn’t come along though and she drug her closest friend with her. If JJ was going to suffer she at least would have someone she could depend on. She hadn’t expected the world to fall to shit while she was stuck in Safe Haven of all places though.
Personality: Jaded, untrusting of others, easily wounded, a veritable walled fortress these are all things that describe Justice well. Justice wasn’t always such a cynic and as a child she was a bright vibrant girl that smiled constantly. The things that have happened in her life though have turned her to the young woman she is though. The treatment her mother gave her hurts JJ more severely and deeper than she would ever let anyone know. She still to this day has no idea why her mother hates her but she knows it is truly hate for just being herself, JJ just doesn’t know why.

JJ puts up a good front that the abuse and neglect of her mother emotionally didn’t matter, but it did. JJ hides behind a snide demeanor and a quick tongue with a penchant for foul language. It is half rebellion of knowing her mother doesn’t like foul language. That is where the rebellion ends though because JJ just has never been the party going sort nor does she like to raise too much ruckus. She also feels there isn’t a reason to rebel against two individuals that just don’t care.

The constant, what she sees as betrayal, has left JJ very untrusting of others. She still doesn’t truly trust the people left in town and might not ever. There have been so many quick to turn against her she just knows it is inevitable that it will happen again. She thankfully doesn’t really have to watch her own back and trusts the one friend she counts among the survivors. She is trying to not let her cynicism tarnish the relationship she has with Bobby. She hopes the trust does indeed grow rather than deteriorate.

One would think that all the pain she has endured would make Justice thick skinned but if anything it has made her more easily wounded. She hides behind her aloofness and her thick walls of snark and should anyone get in to the girl under it all they could truly do so much damage.

Justice’s inability to trust has led to a lonely life. She has very few friends but the ones she does have she treasures. There is still the eternal fear though that they will one day turn on her like so many though. JJ just wants to be loved and treasured in some capacity. She can be a wonderfully loving individual if you get past all the walls and truly prove yourself to her.

True to her redheaded nature Justice has quite the heated temper though it does fluctuate at times. There are times it can be slow simmering and others where she is quick to explode. It is a very mercurial temper and makes people always tread lightly if she looks in a mood.
